EASA Announces Summer 2023 Programs

EquestrAsian Sports Association of Maryland, a leading equestrian organization dedicated to promoting horsemanship and horse sports in the Asian American community, is thrilled to announce its exciting summer programs for 2023. The programs, designed for individuals of all ages and experience levels, offer unique opportunities to learn, engage, and enjoy the world of horses.

Beginner Lessons: An Introduction to Horsemanship and Riding

Our beginner horsemanship and riding program provides an ideal starting point for individuals aged 5 and above who have little to no riding experience. This three-part program is custom-designed by equestrian experts and aims to instill a love for horses while ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning environment.

The program includes:

  • Online Course: Prepare for Your First Riding Experience
  • Hands-On Horsemanship Demonstration: Learn How to Care for a Horse
  • Riding Session: Experience the Thrill of Riding a Horse

Horse Racing Day: An Unforgettable Horse Racing Event at the Maryland State Fair

Mark your calendars for the Horse Racing Day Event, taking place on August 26, Saturday, at the Maryland State Fair (MSF). This thrilling day celebrates the rich tradition of horse racing and promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

Event Highlights:

Meetup: The group will gather at the 2nd floor of the Maryland State Fair, next to Nick’s Grandstand Grill, at 11:30 am. Guests will enjoy drinks and snacks, including Iced Tea, Lemonade, Old Bay Wings, and Meatballs.

Receiving Barn Tour: Accompanied by Fran Burns, guests will have the opportunity to visit the receiving barn, where horses are kept before racing, and explore the racing facility. Get up close and personal with these majestic animals and gain insight into their world.

Lunch and Presentations: At 1:00 pm, guests will be treated to a delectable lunch, featuring Garden Salad, Fried Shrimp with Boardwalk Fries and Cole Slaw, and Ice Cream Sandwiches. Distinguished speakers, including Gary Brewster (Chairman of the Maryland State Fair), Frank Vespe (Racing Biz), Bill Reightler (Director of Racing at the MSF), and Mike Pons (Country Life Farm), will provide engaging talks on various aspects of horse racing, wagering, handicapping, and racing partnerships.

Reserved Seating: The group will then move to the Grandstand, where reserved seating will be provided to enjoy the races in style.

Exclusive Race: A race will be named in honor of our organization and community, and a winner’s circle presentation will be held to commemorate the occasion.
